Description
Join the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in "Helping People Live Better Lives." The Division of Medicaid & Long Term Care has an immediate opening for a SOS Temporary Accounting Clerk I to join their Medicaid NFOCUS Billing Team!

What you will do as the SOS Temporary Accounting Clerk I:

-Review NFOCUS billing documents and / or separate claims for Over Time / Travel and supporting documentation. Also screen large volume of NFOCUS Billing documents for missing information or incomplete data.
Applicants must have the ability to quickly and accurately retrieve information from a variety of computer mainframe jobs.

-Reviews data from computer printouts and other reports in comparison to information maintained in the accounting system; identifies and researches source of discrepancies. Verifies entries are accurate and posting is complete.

-Prepares and maintains spreadsheets to track and/or monitor the process of financial transactions. Must be able to perform mathematical functions related to accounting processes; word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs.

-Answer and resolve inbound calls from NFOCUS providers regarding the status of submitted claims and verification of provider payments and related documentation utilizing multiple jobs in a professional manner.

-Must maintain confidentiality; sharp attention to detail; and proofreading skills; consistently work an 8-5 schedule, Monday through Friday with regular and predictable attendance.
Qualifications / Requirements
Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field
OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
English grammar and usage; the principles and practices of clerical accounting/bookkeeping methods, forms and techniques; the methods of filing and maintaining accounting records; mathematical functions related to accounting processes; word processing and spreadsheet computer software programs.

Skill in: listening to and understanding information and/or instructions received to perform assigned tasks; entering data into spreadsheets or data bases.

Ability to: problem solve and work independently; communicate orally and in writing with providers; interact appropriately with persons of diverse backgrounds; interact with providers to establish a working relationship and respond to provider needs; perform repetitive tasks in a fast paced environment; learn and apply agency policies and guideline pertinent to clerical accounting; learn clerical accounting terminology, code and classifications; communicate to express ideas and facts; compute and compile financial data involving the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions; operate office equipment such as personal computers, scanners, photocopiers and desk calculators; extract data from established accounts for use in preparing accounting reports and statements.
