Abraxas Youth and Family Services is a national leader in the operation of residential treatment facilities and community-based programs for troubled youth and their families. 

Summary

This position provides direct service to a diverse population of delinquent/adjudicated youths and provides supervision for a specific work shift.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises, instructs, and participates with clients in daily programmatic activities and ensures compliance within specific program/facility rules and regulations.
  • Provides people security by engaging clients in experimental learning/growth activities. Integrates client goals and objectives into daily interactions.
  • Serves as shift leader to ensure proper staff coverage. Monitors staff member adherence to structured daily routines, headcount, and meal counts.
  • Assures program/facility safety systems and building security and evaluates systems.
  • Supervises and evaluates staff performance, develops measurable objects for necessary improvements and implements appropriate corrective action to staff adhering to human resources policies and utilizing Human Resources when necessary.
  • Assures effective communication among treatment team. Participates in treatment conferences for clients and reviews logbooks as well as incident reports for consistency. Documents and communicates with appropriate clinical and direct care staff members to assure programmatic consistency and compliance.
  • Responsible for program/facility operations among non-traditional hours.
  • Evaluates and communicates with training department the training needs to include new hire orientation and recertification training of direct care staff members.
  • Implements and mentors employees regarding the company’s policies on professional expectations, code of conduct and other practices and procedures, serves as a role model for clients and employees and supports the company’s mission, goals and objectives.
  • Supports the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promotes the Seven Key Principles of care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.

 



Minimum Requirements

The following education requirements are acceptable for this classification including:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and one (1) year experience working with children; OR
  • Associate’s degree in related field and three (3) years experience working with children.

Other Qualifications:

  • At least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Criminal clearances (Act 33 and 34, specific State & child clearances and, if necessary, FBI).
  • Non-communicable diseases physical exam.
  • Valid driver's license from employee’s state of residence.
  • Valid registered vehicle insurance.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
