Responsibilities

How Will You Contribute to the Company?

Cradlepoint is actively seeking an inspiring hands-on Vice President of Software Engineering for its WAN Edge product line. You will be leading a global team of skilled software engineers that develops the operating system for 5G-enabled networking solutions.

What Will You Do?

  • Lead a Software Development team for Cradlepoint's NetCloud Operating System (NCOS)
  • Determine how NCOS evolves to support additional features and use cases
  • Develop traditional networking functionality LAN, WAN, and Security in Cradlepoint's endpoint portfolio
  • Evaluate new OS models that could support future devices, both cellular-based and traditional Networking devices
  • Coordinate development with the Cloud-based Network Management team, NetCloud Manager, on how the endpoint hardware communicates with NetCloud Manager
  • Manage software development teams in multiple geographies including Boise, Silicon Valley, Bangalore, and other locations
  • Drive process improvements and automation in our software development practice
  • Measure and improve the quality of software
  • Retain current talent, recruit new talent, and develop individual contributors and people managers
  • Bring strong concepts and good knowledge of L2, L3, and WAN protocols, forwarding/switching infrastructure, and WIFI-based solutions.Use concepts to create better troubleshooting and insights into products we have shipped
  • Work in a highly collaborative, inclusive, and agile atmosphere in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Stay extremely focused on deliverables that are customer-facing
  • Bring a reputation of "can do" and have extensive followers who believe that if they work with you, they will get to work on some of the most interesting projects in their career
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in CS/EE/EC or technical equivalent
  • Fifteen (15+) years in Software Development
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience as a people manager and a minimum of two (2) years managing a management team
  • Demonstrated ability to attract, build and retain a quickly growing engineering team, supported by a strong engineering management team and org structure that can continue to scale
  • Proven ability to partner with Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams, define and execute against annual product / technical roadmap ensuring your teams achieve product deliverables and technical goals
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach members of management and engineering teams and build strong team morale and cohesion
  • Track record of delivering an Enterprise grade product portfolio, at scale
  • Experience with Linux/FreeBSD routing stacks
  • Experience with x86/ARM hardware acceleration for Networking
  • Expertise in using Unix/Linux development tools, and Linux virtualization
  • Experience in network processor programming, POSIX thread programming
  • Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals, multicast protocols, L2 switching technologies, Wi-Fi protocols, SDN, OpenFlow, IPsec
  • Working knowledge of Cellular Protocols (LTE/5G)
  • Proven ability to ship Enterprise products in Routing/Switching/WIFI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication Skills
  • Proven ability to manage diverse remote teams including the ability to work in offshore environments
  • Flexibility to travel between Boise, Bangalore, Silicon Valley, and other locations
  • Industry certificates, such as CCIE, CCNP, etc. are desirable as well as experience in a startup

Compensation and Benefits at Cradlepoint

At Cradlepoint, we know that our people are the key to our success. We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package to help with your individual needs and goals.

Your Pay:

The salary range for this position is listed below. The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.

  • $218,750 - $414,000
Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus and a cash-based long-term incentive. These variable pay opportunities are dependent upon the attainment of goals and objectives as determined by Cradlepoint's Senior Leadership team. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

For California employees, we offer a subsidized HMO option through Kaiser. Cradlepoint also offers subsidized dental and vision coverage.

Your work-life balance is important to us. Cradlepoint provides generous paid time off, including: 15 days of Flexible Time Off (FTO), four paid quarterly well-being days, and 11 paid annual holidays (includes nine company holidays and up to two floating holidays). Please note that an employee's FTO balance and floating holidays may be prorated in the first year, based on start date. Cradlepoint also offers paid maternity-leave benefits and six weeks 100% paid family leave for all employees.
