Job Description

The Data Specialist roles are actively changing the business using state of the art data analytics throughout planning, development and operation by ensuring critical leadership and business decisions are data driven. This role provides a learning opportunity across all vehicle motion control and software with close integration to key VMEC business partners and program/product management teams (PMT). It requires an innovative attitude, system perspective and business analytics approach to organization-wide opportunities through creative analytical methods. A primary focus of this position will be crafting data analytics techniques which connect and derive meaning from data in order to enable informed business decisions for long to short term portfolio planning, program/product/project execution and final delivery of customer value. The Data specialist is the key connection to ensure the business analytics team has all the crucial data by utilizing data exploration tasks and visualization tools to enable data analysis with the critical focus of optimizing time to value for our customer and using data to highlight opportunities for steadfast improvement. They are expected to lead data driven decision making process and culture within VMEC (Vehicle Motion Embedded Controls) through innovative analytics approach and tools focused on end to end operations ensuring revealing early warning signs, draw impactful conclusions and optimizing organization wide operation and performance.

As part of this role, it is required to work across VMEC, GECSE, Calibration and other sectors to champion high levels of engagement resulting in maximized takeaways and ensure system opportunities are shared.

Additional Job Description
Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering or Bachelor of Computer Science
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are outstanding and complex
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and advanced EXCEL user
  • 2 years of engineering, information technology or computer science experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MSE)
  • Solid comprehension of embedded controls development tool set - (e.g. IBM Rational Tool Suite including DOORS for requirements management, Git ecosystem, MatLab-Simulink, ETAS)
  • Experience with Software quality metrics (Defects, testing, automation, MISRA Compliance, Cybersecurity, Cyclomatic complexity, code quality, unused feature, refactoring rate, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework®
  • Presentation and visualization tools/technologies including Tableau and Power BI
  • Coding skills in languages such as SQL, Java/J2EE and Python development languages, Front-end technologies including JavaScript
  • Experience with statistical software
  • Understanding of data warehousing and ETL techniques
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrates ability on utilizing standard software and business tools/processes (BitBucket, Confluence, Quality database tools i.e. TrackerGART, Issue management tools i.e. JIRA / PRTS)
