Job Description/Responsibilities
The Department of Anthropology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for a term position as Visiting Assistant Professor, specializing in applied cultural anthropology, beginning August 2024. This is a non-tenure track position, renewable for up to three years. Our faculty value four-field anthropology, prioritizing hands-on learning opportunities for our students and excellence in undergraduate education. We seek a colleague with an active research focus in museum anthropology, heritage and tourism, corporate anthropology, borders and migration, development anthropology, environment and sustainability, or medical anthropology. Additional skills in mixed methods, digital applications, visual anthropology, advocacy anthropology, or decolonization methodologies are also highly desirable. Geographic specialization is open, but areas of interest include African-American, Latinx, and Native American studies. SIUE has a strong commitment to teaching and research, and the ideal candidate will demonstrate their potential to integrate the two, while also engaging in service to the department, the university and surrounding communities. Teaching responsibilities include an introductory anthropology course, advanced courses in applied cultural anthropology and in the candidate's areas of specialization, as well as undergraduate supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
ABD candidates will be considered, but the ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or a related field at the time of appointment.
