Job Summary:

Everest Re Group, Ltd. is seeking to hire a Vice President to serve as a Portfolio Manager of Investments. This position will be based in Warren, NJ. The Everest investment team consists of a small group of talented individuals working in a collegial and supportive environment.

The person in this role is expected to work in a highly collaborative and thoughtful manner with everyone on the investment team and colleagues in different divisions, including human resources, the internal and external audit teams, technology, finance, accounting, legal, tax, treasury, and others.

Key responsibilities include portfolio management, trading, research, analysis, and modeling of internally managed fixed income securities. Other responsibilities include building and maintaining models and platforms required for internal fixed income investing.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitors fixed income markets for relative value opportunities.
  • Coordinates purchasing agency RMBS for collateral pledging as dictated by investment accounting department.
  • Pitches new fixed income trade ideas to the Senior Portfolio Manager and Chief Investment Officer.
  • Performs regular surveillance on existing fixed income holdings.
  • Trading of fixed income securities for the internal accounts.
  • Support the reporting function with analysis as needed for the investment team and the board.
  • Maintain relationships with a wide variety of broker dealers in order to maximize access to assets, liquidity, and research.
  • Train/cross-train junior staff in internal fixed income as dictated by the Chief Investment Officer or Senior Portfolio Manager.
  • Ad hoc analytical and trading support as needed.
  • Assign project work to interns as needed.
  • Use network to discover what peers are doing that we are not and industry best practices.
  • Work across departments in a professional and positive manner to achieve goals.

Job Qualifications & Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of work experience in fixed income investing
  • MBA from top school preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong Excel and modeling skills required
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic
  • Based in Warren, NJ area
