We are currently seeking a Vice President on our Business Insurance team in Livonia, MI.

Our office in Livonia provides risk management solutions that help high net worth individuals and businesses protect against the loss of assets because of sudden casualties. We work with clients to identify potential areas of exposure and recommend solutions to guard against risk. The Loss Control Consultant will provide quality risk consulting services to MMA clients. Responsibilities include performing assessments, providing employee training, developing risk management strategies, developing written policies and documenting activity in Sagitta/ImageRight. Services should help clients reduce exposure to loss, and ensure clients are in compliance with governmental agencies such as MSHA, OSHA and DOT.

We will count on you to:
  • New Business Development
    • Prospects
      • Pre-qualify an account and gather information for submission
      • Discuss market strategy with team and oversee submission process; review & negotiate quotations and make placement recommendation.
      • Prepare and participate in presenting proposal to client and in team selling with other MMA disciplines.
      • Coordinate coverage placement including binders, invoices, etc.
      • Coordinate policy delivery process; complete and review coverage checklist with client.
    • Existing Clients
      • Pursue opportunities from referrals, cross selling Employee Benefits or through up-selling additional coverage and/or MMA value added services to round out existing client programs with additional and/or increased lines of coverage.

  • Pro-active client service
    • Develop business relationships through in-person visits, telephone and electronic contact at multiple levels within client organization.
    • Conduct a mid-year review of exposure basis and identify any changes in the client's operation.
    • Review loss summary with client to pro-actively manage losses.
    • Manage client stewardship plan with corresponding activities and deliverables
    • Communicate and educate the client on changes within our industry and how they could impact their business

  • Managing client renewals / marketing
    • Manage all facets of renewal process
    • Lead discussions on renewal strategy and gather renewal information from client.
    • Coordinate team meetings to discuss renewal marketing strategy with team.
    • Oversee submission process; review & negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing. Make placement recommendation in collaboration with Account Executive.
    • Prepare and participate in presenting proposal to client and in team selling with other MMA disciplines.
    • Coordinate coverage placement including binders, invoices, etc.
    • Coordinate policy delivery process; complete and review coverage checklist with client.

  • Team Leadership and Demonstration of MMA's Core Values
    • Assist in training as needed for newly hired team members and provide ongoing training, coaching and personal development to existing team members.
    • Be available as a resource to team members. Field questions and respond to issues on a timely basis (voice mail, e-mail and personal).
    • Provide leadership in practice group and team interactions.
    • Create learning opportunities for teammates and provide ongoing constructive feedback.
    • Work on administrative projects as requested by management.
    • Demonstrate MMA's core values in interactions with peers, clients, and carriers.

  • Pursue a Program of Personal and Professional Development
    • Maintain required licenses: P&C, Surplus Lines and L&H.
    • Demonstrate interest in ongoing professional development through achievement and maintenance of relevant professional designations. Examples AAI, CIC, CRM, ARM and CPCU designations.

What you need to have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's or Juris Doctorate degree preferred.
  • 5 to 8 years industry experience with insurance agency, consulting, legal, finance, insurance company, risk management, or related experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated relationship management skills with 3+ years of client management responsibilities.
  • Maintain P&C, Surplus Lines and L&H licenses in the State of Michigan.
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial insurance with 5+ years of industry, laws, products, coverage experience.
  • Strong leadership, persuasion, communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent client relationship building and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a team leadership role.
  • Must be self-directed, organized and resourceful.
