Position Summary:

The Vice President, Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty is the chief academic officer of the College and is responsible for providing executive leadership in the curriculum, instructional, workforce development, and educational services of the College and promotes the professional development and growth of the faculty. The Vice President also provides leadership and administrative direction over academic and workforce matters within the College in the divisions of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Career and Technical Education, Allied Health and Emergency Services, Library, Learning Resources and Assessment, Workforce Development and Community Education, and Adult Education and Literacy.

Reporting and Supervisory Relationships:

  1. Direct reporting relationship to the College President.
  2. Direct supervisory relationship with the Dean, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; Dean, Mathematics and Natural Sciences; Dean, Allied Health and Emergency Services: Dean, Learning Resources, Library and Assessment; Dean, Adult Education and Literacy, Dean, Career and Technical Education; Executive Director, Workforce Development and Community Education; Executive Assistant and Coordinator, Academic Affairs.
  3. Direct and indirect supervisory relationship with faculty and all unit employees.
Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Plans and supervises the academic programs including all associate degree and certificate programs.
  2. Coordinates the development and implementation of the assessment of student learning.
  3. Approves all additions, deletions and modifications to credit courses and programs and, where appropriate, recommends them for further approval to the President and Board.
  4. Develops and implements the comprehensive program review system.
  5. Develops and implements the tenure and post-tenure evaluation system and recommends faculty for tenure or for contract renewal to the President and the Board.
  6. Plans the master schedule and evaluates its effectiveness.
  7. Recommends full-time and adjunct faculty for appointment.
  8. Negotiates and implements the full-time and adjunct faculty contracts.
  9. Directs the advisory committee system.
  10. Provides leadership for the Library, instructional design and technology, online learning, and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
  11. Recommends policies and procedures regarding academic affairs.
  12. Represents the College at the Illinois Community College Chief Academic Officers (ICCCAO), and other organizations that relate to Academic Affairs.
  13. Represents the faculty interests to the President, Board of Trustees, and other designated groups.
  14. Develops and maintains proper budgeting, fiscal and personnel resources, report preparation, and management within the assigned area.
  15. Attends Board, President's Cabinet, and other meetings as appropriate and prepares recommendations and supporting documentation as needed.
  16. Represents the College in local, state, and national professional organizations and establishes linkages with appropriate local, regional, and state resources and agencies and public groups.
  17. Plans and establishes strategies which contribute to fulfilling the Vision and accomplishing the priorities of the College.
  18. Performs other professional and administrative duties assigned, as appropriate, by the President.
  19. Acts as a liaison to the Higher Learning Commission.
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. An earned Terminal degree from an accredited institution is required. Candidate may have a Master's degree and be currently enrolled in a doctoral program at an accredited institution of higher education, with expected completion within one year of start date.
  2. Significant administrative experience in higher education, preferably a community college.
  3. College teaching experience.
  4. Demonstrated leadership in curriculum and program development.
  5. Demonstrated skills in budget development, financial management and resource allocation.
  6. Experience in managing under a collective bargaining agreement.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
  8. Demonstrated experience in providing leadership in faculty development and Instructional design and technology.
  9. Demonstrated experience in workforce development, training, or education.
  10. Strong computer, analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  11. Experience with regional accreditation process.
Preferred Qualifications:


  1. Openness and the ability to inspire trust and loyalty among colleagues and the College community.
  2. Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to higher education.
  3. Experience in administering and advancing technology programs and use of technology.
  4. Experience with dual enrollment.
  5. Has been tenured faculty.
Anticipated Work Hours and Days:

The schedule consists of working 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. five (5) days a week. Occasionally, there will be additional evening and weekend hours.

Salary:

Salary Range-$111,994-190,389; salary commensurate with experience
