This advanced practice position will support the Vascular Surgery Division for primarily the inpatient service with limited outpatient service requirement. Location will be at the LUMC Maywood campus.

Vascular Surgery

Position Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides advanced clinical care in the inpatient setting, based on educational preparation and/or certification in the APP role for a patient population with vascular disease. Care goals include promotion of healing, prevention of illness and recidivism. The APP assumes the management of inpatients, functioning in both an independent and collaborative role with the vascular surgery team including faculty, trainees, students, nursing staff and other advanced practice providers. As an expert practitioner, the APP performs wound care, designs individualized treatment plans, evaluates outcomes, and modifies the treatment plan as needed. The APP facilitates the transition of patients between service units and provides/coordinates complex patient and family teaching.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education: Required: Masters Degree

Minimum Experience: Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience, including RN experience. Would consider new graduate with interest in vascular disease and surgical patient management.

Preferred: vascular surgery experience.

Licensure/Certifications: Required: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation),Current Registered Nurse License State of Illinois and Nurse Practitioner License State of Illinois or physician assistant license in the State of Illinois.

Position Responsibilities: Ensures that care delivered to patients, meets/exceeds standards of care and is provided according to Loyola University Medical Center's mission, strategic plans and all internal/external regulations, policies and procedures. Functions independently and collaboratively with the physician to provide continuity of health care services for individuals, families or groups. Evaluates the health status, acute episodes of illness, and health care needs of individuals through emphasis on comprehensive history, physical exam, and psychosocial assessment. Analyzes data to identify health/illness problems, the human responses to actual or potential health/illness problems, identifies variations from the norm in diagnoses emergent problems and complications. Designs and evaluates individualized treatment plan. Demonstrates and maintains expertise in the performance of selected complex invasive procedures. Coordinates care for optimal continuity of care across the health care continuum. Facilitates patient/family participation in health care by identifying learning needs and providing specialized education to enhance decision making. Exhibits professionalism by performing research, education, and leadership in clinical practice.
