JOB SUMMARY

The part-time van driver reports to the Intake Supervisor at The MD Hope Center. This position is responsible for transporting clients, patients, staff and equipment in a 15 passenger Ford van between various locations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and more than one year of driving experience
  • Experience driving a 15-passenger van is a plus.
  • Must be able to adhere to road rules and regulations.
  • An acceptable driving record is required.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to manage time effectively.
  • Must be able to work independently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely transport clients, staff and patients, as well as various products and materials to and from specified locations in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of clients and company equipment, products, and materials.
  • Adjust travel routes to avoid traffic congestion or road construction to ensure that departures and arrivals are on time.
  • Use Global Positioning System (GPS) to plan routes.
  • Promptly inform the company of any tickets issued against the company vehicle during work hours.
  • Ensure that the company vehicle is always parked in areas that permit parking in order to avoid towing.
  • Keep the company vehicle clean and properly maintained by performing or ensuring regular washing, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Maintain a travel log to record work hours, travel time and locations traveled to.
  • Report any accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage to management.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and assist with transportation planning.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.
  • The ability to bend, twist, and lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Operating a vehicle requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time
