Summary:

The VAS Product Manager (VPM) role is to drive the performance and commercialization of the Value Added suite of products. The VPM would be responsible for achieving and exceeding product revenue budgets, creating development roadmaps to grow product revenue and to proactively address any shortfalls in expected performance or operational execution.

A VPM would actively and regularly educate and animate the commercial network to sell their products as well as present value propositions directly to customers. Sales best practice, championing wins within the network and creating good momentum behind products is essential.

The VPM, through evaluation of market information, internal factfinding and data analysis would be expected to focus commercial efforts on high potential customers through the provision of clear leads based on the profiling of customer characteristics. All target and existing customer information and status' should be kept up to date on the VAS product pipeline. The creation and maintenance of relationships externally with customers and internally with stakeholders in Commercial, Client Solutions, Procurement and operations is essential.

This Position will be responsible to:

  • Create engagement within the network to sell Value Added Services. Creating / following up on sales initiatives to maintain momentum behind product commercialization. Work with marketing teams to create external engagement in VAS products through targeted marketing.
  • Ensure existing VAS business is being supported adequately by the network in order to protect existing business flows. Work with VAS analyst to coordinate with other key stakeholders including foreign offices to protect CCA VAS cargo.
  • Create and modify product roadmaps as appropriate. Maintain pipeline and monitor customer volumes to ensure they meet & exceed commitment / expectation. Address shortfalls both internally and externally as appropriate.
  • Train commercial staff in VAS products, provide updates to commercial network both personally and in group settings. Present value propositions to customers and follow up.
  • In coordination with the VAS analyst, continuously look to improve product execution. Seek more efficient and cost effective ways to deliver VAS products.
  • Miscellaneous related duties or projects as assigned.

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Two to four years of general business experience
  • Two to four years of industry experience
  • Property and Casualty insurance certification or ability to earn same certification with employer paid training and testing.
  • Knowledge of logistics industry with focus on supply chain management.
  • Sales background or a passions for sales would be advantageous.
  • Moderate Excel skills with ability to create / modify pivot tables and utilize simple formula.
  • Experience in process design, simplification or improvement.
  • Ability to build relationships, at all levels of seniority internally and externally.
  • A passion for networking. Comfortable talking in both one and one and group environments.
  • Ability to work to clear high level performance targets whilst in an unstructured environment.
  • Strong Work Ethic. Initiative. Ability to self-motivate and self-prioritize.
  • Familiar with Microsoft office products.
  • Moderate in Microsoft Excel (Create and modify pivot, simple formula)
  • Experience with Business Intelligence platforms such as SAP BI / Qliksense / IBM Cognos preferred.
  • Ability to multitask, make independent decisions, think quickly and work under pressure.
  • Strong analytical / problem solving skills.
  • Highly organized

Skill Sets / Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Background in sales/negotiation training
