Job Description

GM's Information Technology team is pursuing a Lead Solutions Architect who will design software to manage V2G storage systems. The Lead Solutions Architect will be responsible for innovative applications that coordinate EV load management, helping accelerate the effort to achieve a cleaner, safer, and more energy efficient future. GM is currently seeking an individual with deep knowledge in V2G, including demonstrated experience in demand-side management, Open Vehicle Grid Integration Platform (OVGIP) standards and smart grid design. The Lead Solutions Architect will support a cross-functional team investigating opportunities to leverage core GM battery technology in new growth areas, and leverage technical know-how required to support the execution of new products.

Objectives & Key Deliverables

Drive build vs. buy decisions in developing a V2X/V2G ecosystem.

Establish and maintain relationships with key software suppliers in EV load management.

Leverage OVGIP standards to ensure scalable, reusable solutions.

Support the development of innovative product concepts and high-level design for distributed battery resources.

Drive development of peer-to-peer (local ecosystem to local ecosystem) communications and energy sharing protocols.

Ensure full compliance with applicable consumer privacy statutes.

Collaborate with internal and external partners to evaluate product solutions to ensure efficient, safe, and reliable designs.

Collaborate in a team environment and/or take charge of opportunities to develop optimal solutions for customers and development programs.

Additional Job Description

Required Skills / Experience / Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant engineering field required.
  • Master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering desired.
  • Demonstrated experience designing software solutions managing distributed energy resources.
  • Deep understanding of EV load management.
  • Demonstrated high level of skills required to effectively lead, motivate, and facilitate others in group situations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in build vs. buy technology decisions.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: V2X, V2I, V2V, V2G, Microgrids, information centric networking (ICN)/content caching technologies

Preferred skills:
  • Vehicle network routing and wireless information delivery
  • Heterogeneous network technologies
  • Data mining for V2X/V2G
