Description
User Experience Lab AssistantThis is a full-time position funded for 6-month. If funding permits, there may be the potential to extend. The UXL Assistant Manager will be responsible for supporting the UXL manager in overseeing management and delivery of the UT User eXperience Lab (UXL) and Message Effects Lab mission to provide the expertise and tools to examine how people interact with technology and guidance on what can be done to improve those interactions. This includes the coordination of activities in the Lab and supporting qualitative and quantitative user research studies using a variety of research methods in the lab, remotely, and in the field. The UXL Assistant Manager will also act as primary personnel in the UX Lab when the UXL Manager is out of the office.

Qualifications
Job Function/Responsibilities:• Demonstrates lab equipment to faculty, staff, and students• Maintain lab equipment• Manage lab schedules• Provide tours of the lab(s) for visitors, researchers, and students• Support qualitative and quantitative user research studies using a variety of research methods in the lab, remotely, and in the field• Promote and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders• Prepare client meetings, workshops, and other collaborative working sessions• Collaborate and interact with CICS team, Communications & Marketing team, and Dean's office activities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Ability to learn UX research tools & techniques• Ability to compile information into report form• Excellent communication skills, including the use of information and communication technologies and web-based collaborative tools• Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally• Ability to successfully work independently, but also follow direction, and collaborate on projects.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Keen eye and a high aesthetic for graphic and interactive design, typography, photography, etc.• Experience in industry standard design software• Experience conceptualizing, creating and executing design solutions based on unique needs of specific users.• Understands Human Centered Design process and best practices• Knowledge of usability (UX) design, research tools & techniques• Ability to interpret results and translate into recommendations• Experience developing for WordPress
Required level/type of experience and/or years of experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least one year of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience in user experience or usability or in an academic or research environment
Preferred level/type of experience and/or years of experience:
  • Master's Degree
