Salary/Position Classification

• $15.00-$18.00 Hour Depending on Experience Hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

Assistant PI in performing numerical simulations to study the drag force of Low-Earth-Orbit (LEO) satellites, performance characteristics of electric propulsion devices, and hypersonic re-entry modeling and simulation of LEO satellites.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Learn high-performance computing environment, Linux operating system, and numerical methods and simulation workflows needed for the research work
• Prepare CAD geometry and mesh of satellites for simulation setup
• Perform numerical simulations using in-house developed computer code
• Process simulation results, create research reports, and write research papers for publication.

Required Competencies

• Able to work independently and remain task-driven
• Good computer programming skills
• Knowledge of computer simulation.

Minimum Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science student
• Good CAD skills
• Familiar with Python or C++ programming language
• Relevant coursework in Fluid Mechanics, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
• Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
