The Department of Labor is looking for individuals to join our Unemployment Insurance team as UI Field Representatives. These positions will be responsible for identifying and investigating fraudulent activity with unemployment insurance claims. We are looking for candidates who can use their critical thinking skills to analyze and evaluate data and determine solutions.

Examples of Work
The UI Field Representatives will conduct extensive investigation of assigned cases including, but not limited to analyzing data, interviewing individuals, employers, and third parties to secure information and documentation regarding claims of unemployment fraud, possible identity theft, overpayments, and maintain accurate documentation of all findings. Work in collaboration with internal and external agencies and individuals, including, but not limited to: Attorney's, Law Enforcement, Other State Agencies, etc. Evaluate evidence and adjudicate claims by reviewing information pertinent to eligibility, charging, and make eligibility and fraud determinations. Testify on behalf of the Commissioner of Labor at contested benefit determination appeal hearings and present evidence to support affirmation, denial, or modification of benefit determination. May also testify and represent the Commissioner of Labor at Administrative Hearings or Prosecution Hearings in various Nebraska Counties. Receive and respond to inquiries from claimants, employers, and individuals. Communicate with individuals, employers, and third parties via phone, email, and in person to resolve inquires or concerns including, but not limited to: benefit eligibility, fraud, identity theft, overpayments, audits, correspondence, fact-finding, State and Federal laws and regulations, appeals, etc. Calculate and adjust payments of benefits by verifying with claimants any monetary payments, or other payments received. Work with diverse backgrounds. Maintain current knowledge of Nebraska Employment Security Law, Federal law, and Department of Labor policies.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Post high school coursework/training in public or business administration, finance, accounting, social/behavioral sciences or related field OR two years experience in employment services, unemployment insurance or human services with responsibility for interviewing; analyzing and/or evaluating data to draw conclusions; assessing documents and records; or performing accounting functions with direct public contact.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, social/behavioral sciences or related field. Spanish/English Bilingual language skills preferred but not required.

OTHER: Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: Nebraska Employment Security law; the principles and practices of basic accounting; and interviewing techniques. Skill in: Interviewing clients, employers and other parties of interest to collect and elicit essential information; using critical thinking to make independent decisions; deductive reasoning and problem solving. Ability to: Plan, organize and conduct thorough and complete reviews; apply, interpret and explain laws, regulations, policies, procedures, directives or guidelines; gather and analyze data and draw sound conclusions; interact with people of varied socio-economic levels; establish and maintain working relationships with employees, employers, law enforcement, etc.; receive and understand directives; follow instructions; communicate so others will understand; prepare clear and precise reports; present information in a professional manner; defend and explain decisions made; maintain self-control and composure under trying conditions; maintain reasonable and reliable attendance. #CB
