Position Description

Moma Title: Human Factors Engineer

Location:

This position will support team members in Palo Alto, CA and typical working hours will be within the PST timezone. Other Companys office locations (Austin, TX; Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA; New York City, NY; Washington D.C.) may also be considered.

As applicants will be working with remote offices and conducting user studies via video call, applicants should feel comfortable with their remote work environment, including:

  • Access to sufficient internet to support video calling
  • A working space conducive to user testing sessions
Overall Responsibilities:
  • As a Human Factors Engineer, you'll support our regulatory-required research activities as we develop user-friendly products on the leading edge of Healthcare and AI.
  • This support focuses on planning and conducting remote studies, including formative and summative/human factors validation studies.
  • You will also assist with use specifications, task analyses, use-related risk assessments, and project logistics.
  • We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills, are diligent and detail-oriented, and can work independently on well-scoped projects.
Top 5 Daily Responsibilities:
  • Plan and conduct remote formative and usability studies.
  • Participate in risk analysis and critical task development.
  • Plan and conduct remote summative studies.
  • Analyze study findings, create detailed reports, and present to stakeholders.
  • Assist other Human Factors Engineers on larger projects (via recruitment, data analysis, etc).
Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory
  • B.A./B.S. (completed) in Human Factors, Usability Engineering, Social Sciences, HCI, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, or other equivalent Experience applying Human Factors principles and practices to medical device design and regulation.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct, analyze, and deliver written reports of the results from usability testing.
  • Experience producing observational findings from usability testing leading to the identification of usability issues and risks.
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders Detail-oriented and ability to work independently on a variety of tasks.
Desired
  • M.A/M.S./Ph.D. in Human Factors, Usability Engineering, Social Sciences, HCI, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, or other equivalent; or in lieu of degree, some related work experience.
  • 3 years experience applying Human Factors principles and practices to medical device design and regulation.
  • Experience planning, conducting, analyzing, and delivering detailed written reports of formative & summative user experience evaluations.
  • Working knowledge of the following International Standards and Guidance Documents preferred: IEC 62366-1: Medical devices - Part 1: Application of usability engineering to medical devices (https://www.iso.org/standard/63179.html)
