Responsibilities
  • Proven record of ensuring that nothing is more important than SAFETY.
  • Assist in managing the trucking fleet, including contracted services.
  • Work with drivers and maintenance staff to provide superior internal and external customer service and satisfaction.
  • Analyze data for potential projects and oversee the implementation of these initiatives.
  • Ensure teammates follow proper timekeeping.
  • Evaluate and manage driver efficiency.
  • Recruit, develop, and train teammates, complete annual performance reviews for teammates.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT requirements, as well as all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, statutes and ordinances.
  • Manage housekeeping and ensure truck areas are organized and environmentally compliant.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service at local industrial accounts by making regular visits to confirm proper equipment is in place and procedures are being followed.
  • Function as the liaison between the customer, dispatch, drivers, buyers, and facility operations to provide excellent customer service.
  • Handle day-to-day issues that arise, i.e. ticket and weight discrepancies.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
  • Qualifications
  • Strong safety mindset and proven record of safety improvements.
  • Experience in the development, administration, and management of a high-volume transportation/trucking organization.
  • Related on-the-job experience or Bachelor's degree, preferably in logistics, business, or related field.
  • Understanding of DOT, state, and local regulations, and the ability to successfully apply and communicate these regulations.
  • Minimum of two years' experience managing and supervising people.
  • Ability to organize and administer a complex transportation program at multiple locations, including contracted services.
  • Experience in recycling, waste or heavy hauling environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of truck and trailer maintenance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel; experience with computer-aided dispatch systems preferred.
  • Six Sigma or other analytical experience desirable.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL is a plus.
  • Ability to proactively fix the problem or implement a solution when Company resources are used or spent unwisely.
