What You'll Do

The Transportation Coordinator will be required to coordinate shipments between the shipping department and our outbound carriers resulting in timely pickup and distribution to our customer. This position will be responsible to communicate with late carriers and make the customer aware of delays and/or challenges we may face. The Transportation Coordinator is the primary communication point to our carriers. With the assistance of the outbound department, the Transportation Coordinator will help develop an inline audit program of our outbound shipments to improve accuracy and reduce Customer chargebacks. This person will sit in on our chargeback meetings with staff and support or dispute chargeback claims and develop processes that reduce them.

This position will initially start on our shipping dock. The right candidate will have the potential to grow into a Transportation Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Assure timely pick up of freight by our scheduled carriers
• Ensure all pallets are properly loaded and each truck load is completed with 100% accuracy
• Learn entire product line and the customers to which we service each product
• Coordinate with the loaders; create and/or modify a process achieving peak efficiency while maintaining exactitude
• Generate reports that assess carrier pickup performance

What We're Looking For

• A strong understanding of supply chain processes and vendor management
• Completion of a four year degree in a related field
• Minimum of two years of experience in a transportation clerical or supervisory position
• Strong communication skills across multiple levels of contacts including: clerical personnel, carriers, and customers
• Previous experience in transportation carrier discussions and negotiations
• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office programs
• Excellent computer skills
• Strong critical thinking, logic, and problem solving abilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter and proactive; isn't afraid to ask questions and figure out how to get things done
