Job Description

Primary Function of Position:

The Software Engineer will report to the Service Software Manager and will work within the Service Software team. The engineer will design, develop, port, and maintain software and tools to service robotic systems in the field. The software and tools will allow field engineers to efficiently perform and document field actions such as error analysis, part replacement, calibration, and preventive maintenance.

The engineer will work with Service Software engineers, product support, other software engineers, and system test to ensure that requirements are complete and satisfied by the software. He or she will also assist in the development and maintenance of the requirements and test strategy for the software and tools. Effective collaboration and technical writing will be essential for success.

Requirements for the service software tools will be based on legacy tools for those robotic systems as well as new-generation service software for other products, currently in development by the Service Software team.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and documentation of effective requirements and efficient test strategy for the service software package.
  • Ensure that written requirements are complete and accurate.
  • Design and implement Python software modules to meet requirements.
  • Collaborate with other software engineers to ensure that the design and implementation for common software components can be effectively shared.
  • Assist in the development of test strategy and formal verification and validation documentation.
  • Present and participate in code and document reviews.

Qualifications

Skill/Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience with all aspects of the software development life cycle: Planning, Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, Maintenance
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming
  • Experience with Windows and Linux OS
  • Experience with C++, MATLAB, and/or QML is beneficial but not required
