Position Purpose:

Assist with the configuration, setup, and execution of tests and design evaluations at the Controls Business Unit facility for both new and existing products.

Essential Functions:

• Perform and oversee controlled test sequences for development, validation and current product derived from DFMEAs and DVPs
• Successfully configure, setup and program all control systems and equipment used to perform testing of products
• Fully instrument test specimens with the appropriate instrumentation with minimal oversight
• Inspect, record, maintain and ensure accuracy of technical logs. Assist with data analysis and writing scientific reports based on test results
• Effectively communicate test progress to engineering and project teams
• Design control systems to set up and run tests for both current and developing products
• Assist with creating and writing test procedures for new and existing products
• Understand and apply basic PLC knowledge to edit programs, write basic programs and reconfigure hardware as needed. May include other programming languages
• Assist with continuous improvements or fabrication of lab equipment. Provide pneumatic plumbing and assembly expertise
• Perform preventive maintenance on test equipment and fixtures
• Occasional travel required - less than 10%

Education and Training

• Minimum 5 years working in a test lab environment, 3 years with an associate degree or minimal experience with a bachelor's degree

Minimum Qualifications

• Moderate computer skills required - Demonstrated ability to perform specific functions in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other common software (graphs, pivot tables, etc)
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Strong mathematical aptitude - ability to quickly calculate cycle counts based upon run time and test frequency
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude required- ability to use hand tools to assemble and disassemble components and test fixtures
• Ability to read technical drawings
• Demonstrated proficiency with test equipment and related technology
• Mentoring co-workers or peers is expected
• Prototype building experience preferred
• Fundamental knowledge of control systems and components of electronic circuits is preferred
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities preferred
• Experience with Auto-Cad or 3D modeling preferred

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift and maneuver up to 25lbs with occasional twisting, reaching, and out of position body placement
• Ability to physically work on the underside of a Class 8 trailer - use of a roll-around stool, knee pads, or creeper is encouraged. Ability to use precision tools with fine dexterity to affix sensors to test samples - may require out of position body placement
• Must be able to wear all required PPE - safety glasses, steel toe boots, and hearing protection when required
• Ability to remain seated at a computer workstation for data entry, up to a couple hours at a time - brief stretching breaks are encouraged to reduce muscle stiffness and eye fatigue

*NOTE: No physical lifting and manipulation within the job duties is repetitive
