Tenure Track Faculty Position

General Information: The School of Human Services & Sciences is seeking a graduate-level faculty coordinator for their Infants, Toddlers and their Families (ITF) MA program, which will be launched in Summer 2022. The faculty coordinator will oversee this program and will serve as an advocate for students, faculty, and the success of the program.The ITF MA program is a hybrid program (online and on-campus instruction) that provides professionals with current evidence-based knowledge and skills for working with families and their very young children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Building on the ITF graduate certificate program, the MA program provides additional coursework needed by early intervention specialists (e.g., help-giving and consultation skills, deaf children with disabilities, research, and guided field experiences). This proposed program is designed for pre, as well as experienced professionals or individuals and will attract professionals currently working in early intervention, or who are preparing to work in early intervention, as well as professionals in leadership or policy positions who seek to advocate for early language acquisition and improvements in the EHDI system to benefit deaf and hard of hearing children.

Responsibilities: This position is a full time, ten-month, tenure track graduate faculty position with a rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with the ITF MA Program, housed within the School of Human Services and Sciences, to begin in Summer 2022. During the first year, the faculty coordinator will play a key role in shaping and advancing the goals of the ITF MA program. Additional responsibilities include program development, student advisement, program monitoring, and program evaluation.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD in early intervention/development, Deaf education, speech-language pathology, physical and occupational therapy, audiology or related field
  • Academic and experiential background to run the master's degree program
  • Record of research and publishing in early intervention in order to support the development of research proposals
  • Strong commitment to understanding diversity and cultural proficiency in the field is desired
  • Membership in a professional association tied to the area of instruction.
  • Shows evidence of sustained professional development and renewal activities related to counseling and evidence of professional service and advocacy in early intervention.
  • Minimum working knowledge of web-based learning environment technology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
  • Computer based skills (i.e., software, analytical, and report writing skills)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in ASL
  • Experience in designing and delivering curricula in an online/hybrid format

Rank and Salary: Rank and salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Starting Date: Summer 2022 or until filled.
