Our Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Team is seeking a Technical Writer to provide support to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). CISA's stakeholder community is diverse across the 16 critical infrastructure sectors. The ability to effectively share guidance, information, and progress with stakeholders across the agency, government, and private sector is critical to their mission.

What You Will Do:

  • Gather, analyze, translate and compose technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel across a diverse group of private sector stakeholders
  • Translate data or disparate information into a clear, cohesive document
  • Develop tailored technical materials to bridge cyber SMEs and sector partners
  • Articulate complex concepts to audiences of all levels of technical proficiency
  • Develop a wide range of high-quality executive-level deliverables, including briefings/presentations, reports, and ad hoc analyses
  • Review and revise tailored technical materials and programmatic documentation and provide actionable recommendations
  • Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology
  • Facilitate meetings and conduct interviews to gather and refine information
  • Visualize ideas to communicate recommendations and perspectives
  • Execute a variety of tasks to meet client needs and priorities, such as research, strategic planning, stakeholder outreach and engagement planning, and technical writing, with little to no supervision
What You Will Need:

Education and Experience
  • 3-5 years experience creating documentation for a technical audience
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Political Science. or related discipline
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Background in producing written deliverables, with minimal supervision
  • Strong writing and editing skills; background in technical writing preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable collaborating within a team and driving forward on individual tasks, with the capability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Cybersecurity, infrastructure protection, and/or risk policy experience in government or private sector desired
  • Ability to obtain DHS Suitability
  • US Citizenship required
Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to a manager.

Working Conditions:

Work will normally be performed in an air-conditioned office environment. Work will be non-manual, but the incumbent must be able to walk and climb among equipment and structures. There may be an occasional need to lift up to 10 pounds.
