Job Description

General Motors Infotainment Displays are a rapidly developing area of automotive technology. We're developing cutting edge and intuitive systems that enhance the customer experience. In this role you'll be General Motor's expert as it relates to Displays. This includes leading product development and integration activities of the customer Displays strategy. We're seeking an Engineer with understanding of component, subsystem, vehicle integrationfor features and interfaces related to customer displays. A strong understanding of the consumer industry is also critical to be up to date on trends. The Technical Specialist is recognized as an industry expert in display technology, execution, and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop display system technology road map to assure industry leadership in both innovation and cost
  • Develop required technologies toenable future customer features. Partner with R&D
  • Work with industry and start up companies to innovate automotive specific technology to meet road map expectations. Work on insertion points and sourcing of new technologies. Engage with Partner suppliers
  • Work with associated DREs, studio engineers and program teams to generateunderstanding of current product technology applications and manufacturing processes. Provide mentoring onevaluation oftechnology and supplier design critique
  • Continuously benchmark automotive and consumer markets to understand long term trends. Review trends with advanced engineering teams (including design studio) to brainstorm applications and challenges. Share vision of plan along with gaps
  • Mentor members of GM team on display system technology
  • Relies on extensive experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Interacts with senior internal and external personnel
  • Addresses the broadest and most complex problems of multiple disciplines within the business unit or division

Additional Job Description

Qualifications:
  • Expert in display technology, execution, and analysis
  • Extensive experience in creating and executing technology road maps
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in product development (automotive related is preferred)
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Masters/PhD preferred
  • Industry recognition (Patents, Publications, technical board participation)
  • Ability to lead cross functional, global teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with internal and external partners to meet program imperatives
  • Showcase a wide range of creativity and latitude as complex assignments require originality, creativity, and a wider application of principles, theories, and concepts
  • Experience recommending alterations and improvements to improve quality of products and/or procedures
  • Extensive experience and discernment to plan and accomplish goals
