Job Summary

The College of Arts and Sciences announces a search for a Science/ Mathematics Teaching Postdoctoral Fellow for the 2022-2023 academic year. Candidates with a terminal degree in one of the programs of our science and mathematics division are encouraged to apply. Programs in this division include: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychological Sciences. The Georgia College Teaching Postdoctoral Fellowship is an innovative ten-month faculty program focusing on contributing to Georgia College's mission of teaching excellence, while affording the recipients an opportunity to develop and hone their own teaching practice in a dynamic and engaging public liberal arts environment. As the heart of a public liberal arts university, the College of Arts and Sciences provides excellent and rigorous student-focused baccalaureate and graduate degree programs in the fine and applied arts, the humanities, the behavioral and social sciences, the physical, biological and mathematical sciences, and various professional fields. As the largest of the University's four colleges, it is home to approximately 195 full-time faculty who teach 3,000 students in thirteen departments. Our mission is to engender critical and creative thinking skills, provide problem-solving opportunities, offer a globally diverse perspective, engage in disciplinary scholarly and creative activities, and encourage undergraduate and graduate research.
Responsibilities

Teaching/Instructing
Fellows will be assigned a 3/3 teaching load with face-to-face undergraduate instruction and will participate in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) fellows program, developing an academic year project centered around their teaching. In addition to mentorship, Postdoctoral Fellows will also take part in the CTL's Peer Feedback on Teaching in-class evaluation program. The university is seeking candidates who are interested in innovative pedagogies, scholarship of teaching and learning (SOTL), high-impact practices which align with our GC Journeys initiative, and/or collaborations with the Honors College.
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Qualified candidates for the GC Teaching Postdoctoral Fellowship must have a terminal degree in field of study relevant to science and mathematics. The degree must be earned by August 1, 2022 or within the last three years.

Other Required Qualifications
Other required qualifications include:
- understanding of the principles associated with teaching and learning;
- successful higher education teaching experience within the candidate's area of specialization;
- strong communication skills;
- a passion for working with and mentoring students; and
