Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.

Job Role Summary

The RN Talent Acquisition Consultant recruits and hires for various positions within Eskenazi Health, i.e., Staff Nurses, LPNs, Medical Assistants, Certified Surgical Techs, Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners, etc. they plan, implement, and coordinate all respective recruitment activities including, but not limited to: development of all recruitment literature, development and placement of recruitment classified and journal ads within area of representation

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on the vulnerable population of Marion County. Models Eskenazi Health values of Professionalism, Respect, Innovation, Development and Excellence
  • Recruits and hires for various positions within Eskenazi Health, i.e., Staff Nurses, LPNs, Medical Assistants, Certified Surgical Techs, Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners, etc.
  • Maintains high level of knowledge-base in relation to nursing trends (including pay, culture changes) specifically, but also demonstrates knowledge with other healthcare professions (i.e., rehab, case management, etc.)
  • Plans, implements and coordinates all respective recruitment activities including, but not limited to: development of all recruitment literature, development and placement of recruitment classified and journal ads within area of representation
  • Attends job fairs at colleges, universities, conferences, meetings, etc. to effectively communicate Eskenazi Health's mission and values, recruit prospective employees and educate interested parties about Eskenazi Health.
  • Obtains and organizes current marketplace, salary, benefits and recruitment information as requested.
  • Maintains activity/position reports that accurately display current recruitment activity and position status. Utilizes Position Manager to actively report status of open positions.
  • Communicates/corresponds with prospective applicants to discuss employment opportunities at Eskenazi Health. Maintains responsibility for follow-up with these individuals.
  • Confers with directors and/or department mangers regarding staffing needs and job applicants.
  • Reviews applications/resumes for qualifications, conducts pre-screening interviews as appropriate.
  • Refers qualified applicants for unit or department interview; consults with unit or department and advises in regard to selections; utilizes Position Manager to refer and track progress of departmental review of applications/interviewing.
  • Completes background checks, i.e., criminal history, OIG, HHS-OIG and references as appropriate.
  • Validates license, certification and/or degree of new employees as necessary.
  • Assists with maintaining listing of current licenses/certifications as required by regulatory bodies.
  • Confers with employees regarding transfer possibilities and counsels appropriately concerning career development.
  • Responsible for coordinating the offer of employment, the scheduling of employment physicals/on-boarding paperwork completion with the Occupational Health Clinic and HR Service Representative (Employment).
  • Communicates with directors/department managers regarding acceptances/rejections of positions.
  • Maintains working knowledge of state and federal legislation/regulations including labor laws, etc.

Job Requirements

Active RN license in the state of Indiana or eligibility for Indiana RN license.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in public relations, personnel/human resources preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in acute care nursing environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High-level skills in verbal and written communication and interviewing techniques
  • Use of standard office equipment required; working knowledge of word processing, database management and spreadsheets highly desirable.
  • Must be knowledgeable of health profession licensure and certification requirements, labor laws, corporate and departmental policies/procedures and personnel procedures
  • Ability to prioritize work and devise own work patterns/methods, be flexible to changing priorities, exercise good judgment, work effectively with students/health care professionals and wide variety of others.
  • Participate in long range planning for recruitment purposes, work with minimal supervision, be detail-oriented; maintain confidentiality of information, display mature problem solving skills.
  • Ability to use age-appropriate communication skills
