System Architect at TSI
As a System Architect, you willbe responsible for designing, developing and implementing architecture & modular Platforms. Your solutions will integrate precision measurement technology, advanced electronics, and IoT connectivity into a wide variety of interesting applications and markets. You will work closely with systems engineering, product management, and senior technical specialists to create cutting edge products. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced product managers to help shape a long-term product roadmap and strategy. TSI develops a broad range of advanced instrumentation for many markets and applications. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with the ability to identify reusable design patterns and promote modular hierarchical architectures. You will help guide a talented engineering staff to evaluate key design tradeoffs and optimize designs. What Will You Do?

In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will be responsible for:

  • Being able to effectively communicate and articulate solutions and architecture at all levels of the organization, including senior management.
  • Identifying and creatingplatform reuse opportunities through innovative designs and/or use of commercial off the shelf (COTS) products or solutions
  • Creatingarchitecture documentation for new technologies developed as, or incorporated into, existing platforms.
  • Identifying optimal interfaces among system components, budgeting of common (shared) system-level requirements, and can manage these interfaces and budgets dynamically and effectively.
  • Reviewingand evaluating designs and project activities for compliance with technology and development guidelines and standards; integrates suggestions, implement innovations into overall architecture and leads platform architecture process across organization
  • Providingtechnicaloversight on NPD design efforts through involvement in design reviews and technical consultations.
  • Stayingabreast of latest developments in new technologies, including communicating with technical staff and product managers on trends and opportunities.
  • Supporting proof of concept development as required to prove new platform concepts.
  • Identifyingand evaluating newtechnologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value; creates plans for integration and update into architecture.
  • Evaluatingintellectual property position for platform
  • Assessing key business needs and opportunities across the portfolio, and develop a solutions / architecture to address, enhance or extend capabilities based on needs.
  • Working with engineering teams from across the organization to understand future needs.
  • Actingas a consultant to influence the decisions of management on key initiatives.
  • Effectively interacting and building trust with team members from many different backgrounds, including engineering management, engineering teams, program management and operations.

What Do You Need?
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science from an established research institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of systems engineering or System architect responsibilities in highly technical product or platform development.
  • Demonstrated technical team leadership in Systems Engineering role.
  • Excellent computer skills. Proficiency required in using all core Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening.
  • Excellent presentation skills including leading groups and clearly explaining ideas visually on a whiteboard/flipchart.
  • Development experience in connected product development (IOT products)
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and influence technical teams and individuals in addition to senior level management on technical direction.
  • Enjoy learning new technologies.
Desired
  • Master's degree in Engineering or B.S./M.S. degree in systems engineering from an established research institution. Any Certifications related to architecture or platform design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of systems engineering responsibilities in technical product development such as instrumentation incorporating high-performance mechanical parts, digital/analog electronics, software/firmware and graphical user interface.
  • INCOSE Associate or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP/CSEP) certification or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of MathCAD, Pro/E, Labview, and MiniTab.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Visio, OneNote and SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge of System modeling languages (SysML, OPM, OPCAD etc)
