The Sustainability - ESG Manager is responsible for spearheading the company's Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy. This position will work cross-functionally to lead the development of important corporate materials, including the annual Sustainability Report, ESG polices and position statements, relevant investor documents and ratings and rankings submissions. To drive engagement and spur action on our responsibility goals, the role will work closely with our Communications team colleagues to create and implement stakeholder communication plans with a focus on engaging our colleagues.

Responsibilities:

• Communicate: Lead development of transparent and compelling reporting on our ESG strategy and performance, including the annual Sustainability Report and corporate website materials. Work closely with the Communications team to develop and execute stakeholder communication plans, inclusive of social media strategy.
• ESG Program: Collaborate with colleagues on ESG program initiatives such as policy enhancements, GHG and energy strategy, human capital, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), vendor engagement, and residential engagement.
• Engagement: Engage colleagues to build awareness, cultivate pride, and encourage collective action around responsibility efforts.
• Metrics: Oversee the collection, management, and disclosure of AH4R's ESG performance metrics.
• Messaging: Collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts across the business to develop and manage public policies and position statements on key ESG topics.
• Ratings and Rankings: Respond to relevant stakeholder/investor queries and ratings and rankings groups, including ISS, MSCI, GRESB, and Sustainalytics.
• Best Practice: Remain current on ESG best practices, frameworks, and emerging issues and advise on opportunities to advance our responsible business practices and transparency.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree with 3-5+ years of experience, either in-house or consulting, working on ESG matters, including reporting.
• Proven expertise with reporting and prominent ESG ratings and rankings.
• Understanding of ESG trends, including current and emerging regulations, reporting frameworks and best practices.
• PC skills
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to take prudent risks
• Ability to interact effectively at all levels
• Excellent communication skill, both written and verbal
• Strong customer, quality, and results orientation
• Ability to be an effective member of project teams
