JOB PURPOSE:

Represent the Life Fitness Quality organization on cross-functional new product teams. Resolve manufacturer/supplier non-conformances so that they do not recur. Develop manufactures/suppliers to meet Life Fitness requirements and improve process control. Use expertise in specific manufacturing technologies to drive excellence in sourcing and manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Support sourcing decisions which match manufactures/supplier capability to Life Fitness component and product requirements.
  • Interface with LF Quality personnel as needed to ensure proper failure analysis and disposition of suspect or nonconforming products.
  • Work cross functionally to mitigate impact due to nonconforming products.
  • Drive corrective and preventive action at suppliers to prevent new and recurring quality problems. Ensure resolution of Corrective Actions.
  • Work with suppliers during the new product development process (PACE process) to develop appropriate process controls to identify, control and prevent quality problems.
  • Review and approve supplier PPAP packages.
  • Work cross-functionally to assure that supplier issues are properly documented, approved as needed, and communicated to Life Fitness (deviations, requests for engineering approvals).
  • Perform supplier process audits and quality system audits at manufactures/supplier's facility.
  • Train and/or assist manufactures/suppliers in appropriate quality tools, e.g. APQP, PPAPs/ First Articles, FMEA, control plans, capability studies, corrective action systems, MSA studies, calibration and preventive maintenance systems.
  • Operate standard inspection, measuring and/or test equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain and ensure that the new product and supplier quality goals of the ISO 9001 Quality System are met.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by the Supplier Quality Manager.

REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE
  • 2 - 6 years experience as a Design, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering
  • Process and quality system auditing experience
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis experience (Six Sigma - DMAIC preferred)
  • PPAP review and/or creation experience
  • Computer experience - MS Office package, CAD software, and MRPII systems.

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field is required

OTHER
  • Willingness to travel 25% of time
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of enthusiasm and self-discipline/organization
  • Metrology experience with respect to general Quality tools preferred
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (SSBB), Quality Engineer (CQE), or Quality Auditor (CQA) is preferred
