Role Summary:
Join our Engineering Internship program! Students with interests in the areas of design engineering, systems, hands on testing, additive manufacturing, energy storage, controls, embedded software, cybersecurity, engine performance, and many other technologies can gain broad exposure to our products in the Locomotive, Mining & Marine Propulsion systems businesses. Our Summer Internship Program encourages college students to explore their professional interests while working on real business projects. Our program goal is to bring your academic topics to life, give you an opportunity to see what job opportunities are possible and prepare each student for a potential full-time position after graduation into one of our challenging leadership programs or direct hire roles.
Experienced leaders mentor student contributions and support their technical and professional development during internships. In addition to valuable work experience, students also have the opportunity to build leadership and functional skills through leadership exposure, training workshops on Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, resume writing, presentation skills, communicating in the workplace, interviewing skills, and other resume enriching topics.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Must have completed at least one year of college (Rising Sophomore)
* Must be enrolled in an accredited engineering degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering or Computer Science or Cybersecurity
* Must have and maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale after completing full year of college (or equivalent) no rounding
* Some assignments could require moderate travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and in teams
* Demonstrated experience in leadership roles
* Ability to communicate technical aptitude, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication & interpersonal skills
* Able to work for a minimum of 10 weeks (Maximum of 12)
* Willingness to take roles at any of our Wabtec locations
