Student Support & Wellness Coordinator/ CounselorDescription/Job Summary

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, or designee, This position supports students' academic success and retention through case management, counseling, psycho-educational activities, and referrals to resources. This position also is responsible to coordinate services and staff within the Wellness and Counseling Center. This position maintains high student contact to address barriers students may be facing to help support their success at Baltimore City Community College.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Provide case management services to students, including developing student success plans, referrals to community resources, and collaboration with other professionals
  • Plan, coordinate and implement the delivery of mental health services to support student academic success and retention, including intake assessment, treatment plan, on-going counseling, and crisis intervention
  • Supervises other counselors, interns, and support staff members including providing the required supervision hours required for State Mental Health Licenses as appropriate and allowed by the appropriate licensing board.
  • Develop and coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty, staff, and students related to mental health services
  • Helps coordinate the Behavioral Intervention Team, Title IX Team, and other on-campus programs as a mental health expert
  • Maintain confidential, timely, and accurate documentation of student records
  • Develop and facilitate support groups and psycho-educational workshops
  • Collaborate with community organizations to offer additional resources and referrals as needed
  • Serve as a facilitator to faculty, staff, and administration regarding students with behavioral or mental health concerns
  • Collaborate with staff and faculty to promote positive mental health outreach
  • Serve as task supervisor to student interns
  • Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in a Mental Health field such as Counseling, Social Work, or Psychologist.
  • State Licensure, or ability to be license in Maryland within one year (LPC, LP, LMSW or another Mental Health License) (license in good standing)
  • Two years of clinical counseling experience as part of a case management support team and experience navigating community resources.
  • One year experience supervising other licensed mental health professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of clinical counseling experience in a Community College or University Counseling Center.
  • Two years of experience serving as part of a Behavioral Intervention (BIT) Team
