We are seeking a motivated student intern to support our Electrical Engineering Department. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in electrical engineering within the water supply industry. The intern will work under general supervision and contribute to various projects, providing technical support to the team.  The ideal candidate works under general supervision and may be assigned specific projects with minimal supervision.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRINCIPAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

*             Assist in electrical power systems design for water facilities with supervision.

*             Aid in preparing electrical plans and specifications for construction projects.

*             Assist in coordinating electrical design with local utilities.

*             Collaborate on bid document preparation and construction support services.

*             Participate in site visits during construction and operation.

*             Provide support to various departments within the Company and outside consultants.

*             Assist in maintaining quality assurance of designs and documentation.

*             Contribute to updating Company standards and drawings.

*             Support special projects related to electrical design.

*             Assist in processing invoices and maintaining documentation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

*             Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.

*             Strong academic background and coursework in electrical engineering principles.

*             Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

License or Certificate:

*             Valid California driver license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles and have a satisfactory driving record.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

*             Understanding of basic principles and practices of electrical engineering.

*             Familiarity with NEC and NFPA codes and standards.

*             Basic knowledge of power system applications and calculations.

*             Awareness of electrical safety practices and procedures.

*             Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

*             Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new tasks and responsibilities.

*             Proficient with the following software:

o             Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

o             AutoCAD, MicroStation or equivalent

o             Adobe 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

*             Light to moderate driving of Company vehicle to job sites which may include rough terrain.

*             Walking to various parts of the Company complex and at stations with paved and unpaved areas and on uneven ground

*             May work in extreme weather and ground conditions.

*             Requires climbing ladders, stairs and scaffolding.

*             Requires lifting 35 pounds.

*             Majority of work involves sitting at a desk.
