Job Summary: The Student Account Services Specialist is a primary liaison with the academic community and one of the primary contact points for the provision of consumer information and for providing financial counseling to students and parents. Represents Student Account Services at orientation and information events by speaking, answering specific questions one-on-one with prospective students and parents, and training orientation personnel.
Additional Department Summary: Must provide exceptional customer service to students, parents, faculty, and staff of the University by performing a variety of tasks from processing payments to analyzing data reports and acting on their analysis. Broad working knowledge of functions and processes within other student service departments (Financial Aid, Registrar, etc.) is crucial to success. This position is responsible for representing Student Account Services at important events such as Orientation and will make presentations across campus to promote initiatives of the department and to share information.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Outstanding customer service skills, including interpersonal and active listening skills along with analytical thinking, ability to interpret and respond appropriately to diverse groups of people in various situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships within a diverse and multi-cultural environment. Must be able to function effectively within a team as well as work independently. Must have exceptional attention to detail. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to understand and analyze information and make correct decisions based on analysis. Thorough knowledge of business writing, punctuation, and spelling. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with tact and diplomacy in all oral and written communication. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working on a large University campus.
