JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the SPD Management Team, The Service Line Resource Tech I (SLRT I) is a critical member of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD), providing customer service support to the WDH Operating Rooms, Endoscopy Suite, and hospital departments. Primary duties include the responsible and effective transport of sterile instruments, endoscopes, and transesophageal ultrasounds, but may also include assisting in the daily receiving, breakdown, distribution and stocking of generic instruments throughout the Perioperative Services footprint.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Customer Service:
    • Provides operational support to the Surgical Services team via direct support to SPD Team.
    • Responsible for the effective and efficient transport of instruments, equipment, and supplies needed to support hospital services provided in multiple departments.
    • Assists in the fulfillment of priority inventory requests by efficiently retrieving items and delivering them to appropriate drop off locations.
    • Capable of working within a matrix team environment, demonstrates initiative and the ability to prioritize workloads under stressful and changing situations.
    • Develop working knowledge of instruments and equipment.
    • Must be able to locate and provide specialty instrumentations for any service.
    • Assists with activities related to the identification and gathering of instrumentation for IMS refurbishment.
    • Effectively communicates as a liaison between SPD and other departments.
  • Receiving & Stocking:
    • Assists with de-casing orders in breakdown areas, removing all cardboard to preserve a clean environment.
    • Handles and distributes supplies safely to maintain sterile product integrity.
    • Responsible for the stocking of assigned non-specialty supplies and inventory items in designated supply locations.
    • Replenish supply locations using FIFO (First In, First Out-rotational) procedure to avoid stockpiling and ensure sterility of product.
    • Consistently check for outdates and removes expired products from supply locations.
    • Gathers unused sterile supplies and returns them to their designated stock locations.
    • Monitor overstock storage areas and restock depleted stock locations accordingly.
    • Maintain overall tidiness, cleanliness, and good order in supply locations; ensures items are properly shelved.
    • On a periodic basis and as requested, cleans storage bins and shelves to maintain dust-free environment.
    • Maintain flow and cleanliness of elevator lobbies in a neat and clean manner with minimal inventory storage. Works closely with Environmental Services to ensure waste, pallets and skids are clear of all egress.
    • Provides support to end users and staff members regarding product location, delivery and returns as requested.
  • Environmental Activities
    • Performs routine cleaning and organization of based on departmental needs and requirements.
    • Performs administrative activities such as answering phones and relaying messages accurately and timely.
    • Loading and unloading of cart-washer and unloading of washer disinfectors.
Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility are essential.
  • Able to work in fast-paced and highly technical department.
  • Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar programs.
Education Minimum Required:
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Experience Preferred/Desired:
  • Customer Service Experience (greater than 1 year)
  • EVS or Transport Services Experience (greater than 1 year)
