JOB SUMMARY:

Provides statewide leadership to the 4-H Youth Development Program team. The 4-H Program Team Director is a member of the CU Extension Leadership Team and works with CU administrators, faculty, and staff for planning, developing, staffing, evaluating, and reporting statewide 4-H efforts.

JOB DUTIES:

35% - Essential - Lead and manage 4-H Extension agents, Associates, Specialists, and Program Assistants to advance the 4-H Youth Development mission in SC. Provide statewide programmatic leadership to program assistants, Extension agents (joint supervision), associates (supervise as appropriate), and specialists (provide input on evaluation when asked). Assess the staff needs for quality 4-H program implementation and develop strategies to assure effective program delivery. Hire, orient, mentor, supervise, evaluate and recognize 4-H staff.

35% - Essential - Apply expertise that supports specialization in youth development and career advancement. Participate in a professional development plan based on needs identified for personal and professional growth that results in the development of a specialization in Positive Youth Development. Be current with research in the field and apply this to 4-H programs and initiatives in South Carolina, the region, and nationally. Seek presentation and publication opportunities that demonstrate your expertise in the field of Youth Development.

15% - Essential - Develop, conduct, and apply research that contributes to the educational methods, strategies, techniques and approaches to facilitate 4-H Youth Development and learning. Create and maintain a team plan of work to develop/implement/deliver educational programs and materials that align with the 4-H Youth Development mission. Assess the demographics of the community to ensure accessibility to all youth. Design, utilize and adapt curriculum to meet the needs of SC youth. Develop youth programs that provide effective and supportive learning environments.

10% - Essential - Build and nurture relationships which strengthen and advance the 4-H Youth Development program. Coordinate programmatic needs assessments and statewide advisory committee feedback to develop programs, initiatives, and a team staffing plan. Facilitate effective communication within respective team and with external stakeholders. Build relationships with partners who can help advance 4-H Youth Development goals.

5% - Essential - Protect the integrity of the 4-H name and emblem and ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability. Serve as budget director for funds and grants assigned to program team. Secure and manage financial resources that support the 4-H program. Ensure that public dollars are invested and used wisely.

Education - Master's Degree

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree

RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

30% - Overnight Travel

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range: ($ 55,900.00 - $ 126,900.00)
