The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for domain expertise, software architecture and design initiatives for Cepheid product software ecosystem. You'll need to be well versed and current in software development technologies including both frontend and backend framework. You will use your technical judgment, experience, and knowledge to build out the vision, execution strategy, architecture, and provide technical leadership to the development teams. The engineer will adopt and leverage lean software development skills from the DBS toolkit to drive software quality in an Agile scrum environment.

This position is part of the Software Engineering Group and will be located in Sunnyvale, CA. At Cepheid, Delivering A Better Way to improve patient outcomes by enabling access to molecular diagnostic testing everywhere.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Take ownership and drive teams to deliver quality products on time following Agile lean software development process.
    • Lead and mentor other engineers.
    • Evaluate new technology/product ideas and develop them into new software features/products.

The essential requirements of the job include:

    • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of related work experience OR Master's degree in field with 8+ years of related work experience
    • Two years in a lead software engineer role.
    • Strong software development experience, minimum 8 years of experience using the following languages, framework and tools in application development, Java / Angular / Spring / Hibernate / MSSQL / Jenkins / Gradle

It would be a plus if you also possess:

    • Prior experience in software development in regulated industry such as medical device.
