RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Saint Louis, MO.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs all accounting related functions surrounding government, corporate and foundation grants
  • Ensure compliance with grant contracts and federal regulations
  • Act as a liaison between external auditors, government agencies and staff
  • Participate in the month-end close and forecasting processes as directed by management (including journal entry preparation and general ledger account analysis)
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
  • Maintain the fixed asset schedule and record related journal entries
  • Prepare payroll and all associated functions for submittal to third party payroll vendor and record to the general ledger
  • Ensure compliance with 403(b) non-discrimination testing and adjust payroll accordingly
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and insurance carriers to process claims activity
  • Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained for invoices & accurately entered in the accounting system with proper cost allocations
  • Update the daily cash sheet and prepare bank reconciliations; Maintain the fixed asset schedule and record related journal entries
  • Monitor and assist with the accurate processing of accounts receivable payments and adjustments as needed
  • Assist with the accurate processing of donations received and preparation of bank deposits
  • Monitor agency accounts receivable and collection of delinquent balances
  • Review agency Uniform Guidance reports and follow-up with agencies as appropriate
  • Assist with the assembly of information for external auditors
  • Prepare supporting documentation and schedules for the 990 tax return
  • Assist the department with other responsibilities as needed
  • Protect organization and staff by keeping all information confidential


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with an emphasis in Accounting required
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience required; Non-profit experience preferred
  • Passion for nonprofit mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications; Microsoft Dynamics experience and Ceres or the ability to learn required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work at special events and/or other projects that may occur in the evenings or during weekends; Meeting attendance may require overnight travel
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening
