Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for the implementation of the Goals Based Planning Process within top tier client relationships. Develops, produces and prepares customized financial plans to meet the needs of Private Client Group clients. In an effort of gaining new clients, leads clients through the consultative process to understand their goals, and utilizes knowledge of tax investment, estate and retirement planning to integrate planning with their investments to meet their objectives. Works in tandem with the Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager to deliver a unique client experience through the advisory process. Works with very limited supervision and is responsible for making an established range of decisions, escalating to Manager when necessary and updating Manager on a regular basis.
Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities:

  • Determines the client's goals through the initiation of our unique Priorities conversation with top-tier clients. Determines their financial status by gathering, analyzing and evaluating client data. Focuses on current and future cash flow needs, investment planning, insurance analysis, income tax planning, education planning, charitable planning, business succession planning, stock option planning, asset protection, and estate and wealth transfer planning. Works more independently with less complex cases, and works with Senior Planner on advanced and complicated cases.
  • Uses planning software and other resources to develop client-specific analysis tailored with advice and solutions designed to meet the clients' needs and goals. Presents and reviews the plan with clients or assists others in executing. Ensures plan is accurate before submission for the Senior Planner's review prior to client presentation.
  • Accurately maintains client documents, working papers and financial plans, and manages the engagement management and delivery process.
  • Partners directly with the Wealth Advisors on financial planning strategies as part of the Cycle of Excellence. Facilitates and participates with the clients' service team (Wealth Advisor, Portfolio Manager and Relationship Manager) and other professional advisors in developing and implementing accurate and timely solutions to the client's planning needs. Responsible for revenue and retention of current clients as well as responsible for developing new business and achieving business goals by multiple means, including maintaining and establishing contacts with clients, professional organizations, community organizations and centers of influence.
  • Interacts with service teams, clients and other professionals to promote the organization's wealth planning expertise by educating service teams and other Wealth Management employees, clients and professionals on planning techniques and solutions. Assists with the development and presentation of training programs as needed.
  • Continually participates in developing new ideas and tools that enhance and expand the services offered by the Private Client Group. May serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in a particular area of planning. Identifies new clients and referral sources for whom services can be provided.
  • Maintains open communication and acts as a liaison with other experts and client service teams to coordinate the delivery of all products and services, and resolves client-planning needs.
  • Actively participates in any required corporate and business-line training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Selection Criteria:
  • Eight plus years of professional experience in a tax planning, investment or wealth management capacity demonstrating comprehensive understanding of the financial services market, economy and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to successfully interpret and communicate business needs, verbally and in writing, between internal and external groups in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner. Able to convey and document accurate information effectively, orally and through written spreadsheets, financial plans, analyses and other documentation in a manner that is understandable to others and prepared using a prescribed format. Verbal and written communications are to conform to proper rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style. Superior strategic and analytical skills to diagnose client situation, articulate and make proper recommendations for solutions. Demonstrated experience identifying, defining and resolving problems, and collecting or interpreting data to establish facts, draw and recommend valid conclusions. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and use new methodologies to provide creative solutions. Proven experience with innovative and creative problem resolution.
  • Proven ability to review and comprehend complex tax, legal and estate planning concepts.
  • Demonstrated superb presentation skills with experience conveying information in a clear, focused and concise manner. Demonstrated use of strong listening and ability to effectively communicate to a broad range of clients.
  • Proven experience completing work independently, accurately and in a timely manner to make decisions and demonstrate initiative. Demonstrated strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and process orientation. Expected to cite examples of organization and time management methods used to manage or prioritize workload demands.
  • Proven ability to exercise excellent judgment with confidential client information.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and build relationships with broad range of clients and business partners as well as all levels of internal associates, and to diplomatically resolve conflict issues.
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple projects/assignments simultaneously, and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis. Expected to cite examples of project management experience in planning, executing and maintaining a project from start to finish.
Work Setting:
  • Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.
  • Requires visual acuity to read a variety of correspondence, reports and forms, and to prepare and analyze data.
Educational Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business (finance, marketing, accounting) or equivalent experience within investment industry.
  • Master's degree in business (finance, marketing, accounting) or a JD preferred.
Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:
  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications and Visio.
  • Knowledge of eMoney or MoneyGuide Pro a plus.
Certifications & Licenses (i.e., Series 6 & 63, CPA, etc.):
  • CPA or CFP required.
Position Demands:
  • Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects.
  • Must be able to adapt hours to clients' needs.
  • Regular travel by car or plane is required; minimal overnight travel is required.
