Senior Training and Learning Facilitator

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking dynamic professionals to join a partnership between public university social work programs and the Office of Workforce Development.

The Senior Training and Learning Facilitator will provide staff and services required to provide professional, administrative and support functions including, but not limited to the development, design, delivery, management, support and/or evaluation of wide array of training programs and technical training support as mandated by state law and administrative rules, federal court order, federal Title IV-B and Title IV-E.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As a member of a specialized Statewide Training Team, independently develops and conducts assigned pre-service and in-service training programs for Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (IDCFS) and/or Purchase of Service (POS) agency staff and foster/adoptive caregivers. Represents and is a member of the Office of Learning and Professional Development within the Pre-/In-Service Division. At various statewide locations, conducts training on IDCFS policy and practice, as illustrated in IDCFS Rules, Procedures and various established pre-service and in-service training curricula.
  • Provides training management feedback reports on all matters related to the performance of duties that include, but are not limited to the following: employee attendance and performance while in training; reports on incidents, illness, injuries/accidents that may occur in the classroom; identification of additional employee training needs; systemic and other employee and/or Department performance issues which arise that need management/trainee's supervisory attention. May assist agency management and administration in evaluating employee job performance while in training, for purposes of recruitment, selection and retention. During consultation with trainee's supervisor and staff discuss problems and issues that impact job performance and assist in identifying ways of meeting job performance expectations.
  • Quasi supervision observation and feedback to Training and Learning Facilitator.
  • As a member of a specialized project team, evaluation and revisions of both classroom and on-line training curricula. May serve as a training project leader, providing overall project management to an assigned specialized training project.
  • Assist with observation of Training and Learning Facilitator. Assist in facilitating team meetings and Trainer of Trainers. May perform other duties as assigned, such as submit a bi-monthly report, tutor individuals who have failed reviews, close roster within 48 hours of course completion, Time and Effort Reporting System (TERS) to be completed weekly and travel to various regions for emergency assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalency, from an accredited college or university with coursework in any combination of education, psychology, social work, training, or on-line training course design and development. Four or more years' experience in one or more specialized fields of child welfare practice, including Child Welfare Intake, Child Protection Investigation, Intact Family Services, Permanency/Foster Care Services, Licensing and other related direct or indirect service practice.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred. Preference given to all candidates with two (2) or more years of documented experience conducting job training in a public or private child welfare training organization.

Knowledge Requirements:

Requires specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, including Illinois Child Welfare Employee Licensure, certification or Council on Accreditation (COA)approved degrees necessary for the successful performance of this position. High level of critical thinking and knowledge of the child welfare system, both public and private. Ability to manage multiple, interdependent serial projects while balancing resources and managing time efficiently and effectively. Staff follows pre-defined procedures but need to be proactive and anticipate problems or barriers. When an obstacle is encountered, they should be a problem solver and seek help when necessary. The job requires a complex vocabulary and writing style. Demonstrated classroom management and the ability to provide quality assessment of other's work and skills with demonstrated knowledge.

This is a full-time (100%), twelve month non-tenure track academic professional position located statewide in Illinois. This position is grant-funded and renewal is contingent upon availability of funds. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
