Position Description:

We are searching for a Senior Systems Engineer. This position is responsible for the overall coordination and control of all infrastructure systems required to keep the business operational for the Farm Credit Bank of Texas (FCBT) and Tenth District Associations (Associations). The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for architecture, design, security, implementation, management and troubleshooting of infrastructure solutions. They will assist in driving the technology roadmap of the team and ensuring all systems run as efficiently as possible.

The Senior Systems Engineer monitors and helps stabilize services in production, sets and maintains acceptable performance and availability thresholds, and writes code that automates repetitive tasks. Development efforts will focus on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure-as-code, and optimizing through automation.

Day-to Day-Duties and Responsibilities:

Cultivating an understanding of, and developing a proficiency with, the bank's IT infrastructure and operations along with contributing to process automation, monitoring, alerting, and documentation.

• Design, implementation and support of Microsoft network management solutions - Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DFS, and certificate services.

• Design, implementation and support of server virtualization platforms - VMWare and Azure.

• Design, implementation and support of SAN administration - Pure Storage.

• Design, implementation and support of blade servers, chassis and fabric - Cisco UCS.

• Design, implementation and support of Backup\ estore software and methodology - Rubrik.

• Design, implementation and support of enterprise level electronic communication systems including M365, Exchange, email archiving, message encryption and instant messaging.

• Design, implementation and support of Disaster Recovery strategies and high availability solutions.

• Design, implementation and support of automation platforms - Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible and Azure DevOps.

• Design, implementation and support of monitoring and alerting platforms - Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki and Splunk.

• Security best practices in a Microsoft Windows environment including NTFS permissions, system patching\hardening and anti-malware solutions.

• Design, implementation and support of datacenter systems such as environmental controls and power management.

What You Bring to the Team:

It's an important role that covers many skills. We're seeking applicants with an Associate's Degree, Technical School, or equivalent and five (5) or more years' experience as a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer or a minimum of seven (7) years' experience as a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer. Must hold two certifications in at least one discipline (Microsoft, VMWare, Cisco or storage), or hold one certification in one discipline plus three (3) additional years' experience.

  • Project Management means getting things down on paper. Includes project planning, business analytics, documentation and diagraming.
  • Attentional to Detail as we manage mission critical financial systems that operate under audit controls. You will need to be comfortable with detailed change control along with validation and testing.
  • Proactivity means getting ahead of problems and projects on your own accord.
