Position Overview:

The Senior Risk Analyst Position is an experienced position in the Middle Office. The Senior Risk Analyst will be primarily responsible for assisting the Middle Office in maintaining the integrity of the trading portfolio by understanding the transactions and the underlying risk limits. The Senior Risk Analyst will work closely on a daily basis with Risk Analysts, other Senior Risk Analysts, Physical and Financial Marketers/Traders, Schedulers and Accounting personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily valuation for risk and trading books and production of P&L and position reports
  • Identify, comprehend and analyze the various risks of deals and structured transactions contained in the portfolio
  • Monitor trading activity and portfolio for Policy Compliance
  • Promote / enforce compliance with established transactional and portfolio limits
  • Develop and implement transaction and pricing validation processes and procedures
  • Monitor and analyze the organization's market risk exposure for both short-term and long-term strategies / transactions
  • Maintenance of book structure
  • Assist in determining appropriate methodologies such as mark-to-market, VaR, etc.
  • Load / validate settlement / forward curve information into applicable risk system
  • Perform price curve validation procedures
  • Supervision and oversight of Risk Analysts
  • Generate and review daily risk control reports for distribution to management
  • Troubleshoot process breakdowns/errors with daily system processes
  • Interact with internal customers such as traders, trade analysts, accounting, confirmations, credit, contracts, etc.
  • Manage the requirements and demands of multiple key stakeholders
  • Interact with various internal and external audit groups
  • Assist in SOX Compliance and Internal Controls activities and assessments

Experience and Qualifications Required:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, General Business, Accounting or Engineering
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in oil refining preferred
  • 2 - 4 years' experience in energy commodity markets or financial derivatives preferred
  • Highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who works well in a fast paced and time-sensitive environment.
  • Strong analytical background with proficiency in the use of complex spreadsheets.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Team oriented and comfortable interacting with diverse teams
  • Multi-tasking - ability to manage multiple contacts, databases, spreadsheets and tasks
  • Must be able to work in an office environment
