Job Summary
The Sr DSO Project & Oversight Manager will ensure Default Servicing Operations (DSO) is represented in all bank-wide projects, take the lead on internal DSO projects including the high-risk management of the default service transfers, client relations management, and ensure sufficient oversight for all third-party vendors and Functional Areas within DSO. This includes:
• scoping for projects by engaging all parties potentially impacted and determining the extent of the impact,
• working with IT or technology vendors in the build and implementation of new products or services,
• coordinating internally to the extent that multiple DSO resources are needed to complete a project,
• working with MSR-Owners, Prior Servicers, and internal business partners to assist in scoping, mapping, and monitoring all default service transfers,
• overseeing vendor invoices and action plans
• monitoring DSO performance against set key metrics (SLAs/KPIs), and
• collaborating with department team members to ensure all policies and procedures and up-to-date and fully documented.

The primary goal of this role is to work with various vendors and internal business units to ensure compliance of all activities performed. This will include, monitoring the DSO STARS reporting suite with the appropriate Functional Area Managers to proactively monitor performance, working with the Service Transfer team to ensure all necessary information is obtained to service the loans received, and plan/execute on projects. In the event of a compliance or Key Performance Indicator (KPI) miss, this role will be responsible for assisting in the creation of and managing out of all action plans associated with improving performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing strategic plans and collaboration with Transaction Management Team (Service Transfer and Client Relations) to ensure all information needed (reporting, comments, pay histories, images, etc.) to service Default loans is received and reviewed at Trial 1, Trial 2, and on Day 1 of Flagstar servicing.
  • Responding to MSR-Owners, Client Relations, and Investors/Insurers in Default performance-related conversations.
  • Responsible for reconciliation and payment of invoices requiring communication with and approval from executives both within the Bank and with external vendors.
  • Working with internal team members to update policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating with other default servicing teams, and other internal teams, to assist in the continued development of a best in class default servicing operation
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Completes all required compliance training. Maintains knowledge of and adhere to Flagstar's internal compliance policies and procedures. Takes responsibility to keep up to date with changing regulations and policies.


Job Requirements:
  • Reliable Home High Speed Internet required
  • HS Diploma, GED or Foreign Equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree or 10 years of Comparable Work Experienc e
  • PMP Certificate preferred
  • Required: Significant experience in leveraging and manipulating servicing systems (BKFS LoanSphere, MSP, and other Black Knight systems)
  • 7+ years in one or more of the following: project management, implementation or strategic planning required
  • 10+ years of experience with servicing systems, including MSP/BKFS and LoanSphere required
  • 15+ years of experience in Mortgage, preference to candidates with at least 10+ years of experience with Default Mortgage Servicing and/or Collections required
  • Proficiency in understanding of risk, compliance and regulatory & investor requirements required
  • Unique combination of default servicing/collections experience and proven ability to perform critical operational analysis.
  • Strong problem solving & strategic thinking skills with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions
  • Exceptional written and oral communication including facilitation & summarization skills to drive action and results
  • Must be highly organized and have a strong attention to detail including the ability to create and maintain documentation
  • Ability to work with, lead and consult with all levels in the organization up to and including executives
  • Have an innate ability to understand very complex processes and systems, immediately and intuitively understanding how they work and how they can be improved
  • Adjusts positively to quickly-changing priorities and shifting goals
  • Strong ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast pace environment
  • Strong Excel and other database management skills.
  • Some travel required - Up to 35% on an as needed basis
