SUMMARY

We are seeking to fill a Senior Digital Design Engineer position located in Santa Barbara, CA. At Kollmorgen, we believe in the power of motion and automation to create a better world. In this role, will develop innovative and high-quality embedded motion controllers and servomotor drives. You will be responsible for digital electronic designs, including products based on processors, FPGAs, and systems on a chip (SoC) platform.

After completion of onboarding and required training, this role can be performed on a hybrid schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Specify, design, simulate, and test RTL designs on embedded FPGA and SoC platforms
• Create schematics, part lists, test specifications, and technical documentation
• Create and / or oversee PCB Layout designs
• Collaborate with other departments and design groups to ensure successful product introduction and help maintain the product throughout its lifecycle
• Participate in system integration testing to validate product functionality
• Support the team to ensure successful agency certification: UL/CE, TUV, RoHS, REACH etc.
• Specify usage of components and motor drive accessories
• Support customers, applications engineering, documentation, and quality teams as needed
• Opportunity to lead small teams on projects

Job Requirements:

Critical Competencies

Required:

• Proficient in RTL Design, synthesis, and timing closure
• Proficient in digital electronic design of processor systems

• Proficient in digital design software tools like schematic capture, PCB layout and simulators
• Detailed Oriented
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; skilled in root cause analysis
• Able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles

Preferred:

• Good understanding of high-speed busses such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet
• Good understanding of low-speed peripheral busses such as SPI, I2C, UART
• Familiarity with Xilinx and SoCs
• Familiarity with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner and PADs Layout
• Experience with Visual Studio and C# programming

Compensation

Base pay range: $100,350 - $137,982

This salary range is provided in good faith and is intended to display the value of the company's base pay compensation for all statewide locations across the United States. Salary is dependent on a multitude of factors, including but not limited to the physical worksite location, candidate's skill set, level of experience, education, and internal peer compensation comparisons.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required
• 5+ years' Digital HW and/or FPGA design experience required
