Special Projects Coordinator

Position Summary

The College of Law Special Projects Coordinator will teach in the Global Food Law Program (GFLP), develop new areas of curricular needs, recruit instructors and an advisory board, develop a web blog and social media outreach plan, assist Advancement with fund-raising efforts as needed, and oversee the application for a partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach three classes per year in the Global Food Law Program; teach in the Juris Doctor Program when needed;
  • Curriculum development in the GFLP;
  • Review and upgrade instructional design of existing and new courses in GFLP;
  • Recruit and manage Advisory Group for GFLP; and
  • Supervise the submission of an application for a partnership with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and plan outreach and student recruitment efforts based on partnership;
  • In collaboration, recruit instructors to teach new classes as needed;
  • Develop a GFLP web blog and social media outreach plan;
  • Obtain QM certification (Higher Ed. Peer Review certification);
  • Outreach and recruitment across campus, using the MSU extension, and via other forums to reach diverse audiences; and
  • Assist Advancement with fund-raising efforts as needed.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Law

Minimum Requirements
  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school. Ph.D in a related field is helpful but not required;
  • Strong academic background, strong public speaking, research, and writing skills;
  • Comprehensive record-keeping, experience in educating and supervising students; and
  • At least five years' experience teaching in the area of food law and expertise in one or more of the following areas: the regulation of food safety, the business of food, and food scarcity and human rights.
