Job Description Summary:
Consumer Risk Engineering team is responsible for Risk decision, fraud detection, risk management decision. We design, develop, enhance, and support services that get called across every interaction between PayPal and its users and partners. Our solutions need to scale across millions of such interactions, integrating with various other APIs in real time and yet providing high availability and configurability to the business. To achieve this, we are always looking at advances in technology and science and tying those back to business needs.
To help with this, we are always looking for strong technologists who are passionate to solve large scale highly complex computer engineering problems, in a repeatable and maintainable way. As a member on our team, you will work directly with our Product Owners and Domain Technical Leads to create outstanding solutions and deliver incredible products.

Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to help us strengthen our world class risk prevention and mitigation systems to successfully combat cybercrime. Risk Engineering team is responsible for fraud detection, risk management and regulatory compliance services across PayPal - globally. We design, develop, enhance, and support services that get called across every interaction between Users, Partners and PayPal. To achieve this, we are always looking at advances in technology likes AI, Machine learning and data science and tying those back to business needs. In this versatile role, you will be responsible for helping shape the future of mission critical risk systems. You will be collaborating closely with engineering, product, and operations to design and develop features for our highly complex and heavily distributed risk environment. Our engineers build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms, along with a deep understanding of business processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, development, and testing of features/functions delivered via applications and services.
  • Collaborating with peers and seniors both within their team and across the organization.
  • Working with product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time.
  • Working with operations teams to ensure your applications and services are highly available and reliable.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience of 1-4 years).
  • Strong applied experience. You've built, broken, and rebuilt software applications. We're looking for creative thinkers who also know how to create real-world products.
  • Proficient in back-end development using Java EE technologies (e.g. Java language, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, etc.).
  • Strong Object Oriented Programming skills, with ability to analyze requirements and transform into scalable software designs.
  • Experience with HTTP, REST API's and competent designing and building webservices/microservicesin a commercial setting.
  • Experience with Design Patterns, MVC and frameworks (e.g. Spring).
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architectures.
  • Experience with development of scalable and distributed Java services.
  • Competent indesign/implementationfor reliability, availability, scalability and performance.
  • Competent in software engineering tools (e.g. Java build tools) and best practices (e.g. unit testing, test automation, continuous integration, etc.).
  • Should have good communication skills.

Colorado Only: The pay range for this position in Colorado starts as mentioned below per year, plus annual bonus or commission if a Sales role. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary.
