JOB SUMMARY
This is an entry level computer engineering position that requires knowledge of fundamental computer engineering principles. Support for this work will be provided by other computer engineers and staff engineers. The Software Engineer I will work within the engineering team as well as cross functionally with Marketing, Quality, Production, Field Test, Manufacturing, and Service. They will assist with product tester development, prototype development, resolving production issues, and documentation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Use Visual Studio to write C# applications focused on user interface and tester communications with guidance from other engineers.
2. Write embedded firmware using C or C++ with guidance from other engineers.
3. Write, comment on, and debug existing code.
4. Create/update circuit board schematics and layouts with guidance from other engineers.
5. Troubleshoot and support production testers.
6. Support Supply Chain department with end of life and product availability issues.
7. Assist with developing test plans.
8. Work cooperatively with other departments to develop products for our customers.
9. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer or electrical engineering is required. Master's degree in computer or electrical engineering is desired.
Experience - Required
- 0-2 years of experience in the following:
- Software development using C/C++.
- Basic schematic analysis and design.
- Object Oriented GUI design.
- Operating multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies.
Experience - Desired
- Controller Area Network (CAN) communications and protocol analysis.
- ARM microcontrollers.
- Embedded application development and debugging.
- Real-Time Operating System application development and configuration.
- Digital logic, memory, and signal processing.
- Communication interfaces such as USB, RS485, RS232, and/or Zigbee.
- Visual Studio, IAR, and/or OrCAD.
- Development using C#.
KNOWLEDGE
- Use common software engineering principles in problem solving.
- Evaluate and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
- Perform analysis, draws conclusions, and present results.
- Draw on resources and check references to problem solve issues.
- Test, verify and validate code.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDSWork is typically performed in a standard office setting working at a desk or table on a level surface. Air quality and noise levels are within normal limits. Eye protection is usually not required. Under normal conditions, exposure to excessive noise, dust, humidity, and fumes is rare.
May be required to sit for extended periods of time or stand/walk/move to different locations as needed.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis is a full-time position, and core hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. May require additional hours of work to achieve program deadlines.
TRAVELSome travel is required to review customer requirements and to address issues in the field either at customer facilities or customer field test sites.
