SUMMARY

GameStop is seeking a passionate, customer-focused Software Development Manager to support our Mobile App team. The App team is responsible for building and maintaining the customer-facing Android and iOS apps, including core eCommerce functionality and elevated gaming content. In this role, you will build and empower a highly effective engineering team, focusing on delivering impactful features and leading mobile-specific technical initiatives. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers & Researchers, Technical Architects, Business owners, and testing teams.
  • Guide the development team in overall application technology design activities.
  • Grow the development team in terms of knowledge and understanding of the systems and best practices in software development.
  • Work closely with business partners and customers to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions. Provide project estimation and put together execution plans.
  • Manage and develop the team, including hiring, goal setting, performance management, coaching, projects, and training. Work with team members to develop career paths and opportunities within the organization. Foster growth and skill acquisition/development for the team leads. Provide a creative environment where challenges are embraced and difficult tasks are valued.
  • Manage project scopes, timelines, dependencies, budget, and delivery. Allocate resources to projects based on priorities. Work with the team in the follow-up of the execution of the project.
  • Participate in technical design review meetings held across different time zones.
  • Be the point person for escalations and serve as the domain expert of the application/system

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelors degree with a regionally accredited program or 8+ years relevant work experience.
  • 8+ years in overall software engineering design and development experience.
  • 3+ years in software engineering management roles.
  • 3+ years in design and development of Ecommerce Applications.
  • Demonstrated history of managing software development teams, especially managing ecommerce projects and using new technologies based on business needs.
  • Exceptional business case analysis, planning, project management, and presentation skills.
  • Prior track record in building software development teams.
  • Experience developing mobile applications, preferably using React Native
  • Experience with high-volume/high transaction ecommerce applications.
  • Intimate knowledge of Internet Technologies and understanding of the latest changes and trends in this area of technology.
  • Strong decision-making skills and an understanding of where projects fit into the development strategy.
  • Ability to operate independently given direction, set direction, and bring ideas and solutions to issues raised.
  • Works well in a team environment or individually, with a positive attitude.
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
