Responsibilities
The Social Worker helps Oncology patients and their families adjust to the cancer diagnosis and to assist in managing psychosocial, emotional, financial or other barriers to care. They are experts in linking patients and families to community resources and providing advocacy to those with cancer as well as their loved ones. Social Workers also offer multiple support groups for patients and families as well as crisis interventions and supportive counseling and referrals.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Master's Degree in Social Work
- Oncology certification can be obtained by being employed in position for two years
- Minimum of 1-2 years healthcare experience in field instruction and/or employment in a healthcare setting
- Excellent Communications Skills
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills
- General Clerical Skills
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Outlook
- EMR experience
- Team Player
