ABOUT WOODLAND JOB CORPS CENTER

The Woodland Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Electrical Wiring, Carpentry, Building Construction Technology, Culinary Arts, Advanced Training - Culinary Arts and Hotel & Lodging. We also assist students with job placement upon completion of their educational and career technical training.

Woodland Job Corps Center is currently searching for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Social Development Director. The role of the Social Development Director is to create a supportive and empowering community environment where all students can thrive personally and socially. Responsibilities:

  • Student Advocacy and Support:
    • Be a champion for the social well-being of our students, providing support and advocacy for their unique needs.
    • Foster an inclusive and empathetic atmosphere where students feel valued and understood.
  • Program Development:
    • Design and implement innovative social development programs that enhance interpersonal skills, communication, and teamwork among students.
    • Collaborate with staff and community partners to create engaging activities that promote personal growth.
  • Mentorship and Guidance:
    • Establish mentorship programs to connect students with positive role models within the center and the community.
    • Provide guidance and counseling to help students navigate personal challenges and develop resilience.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Build strong connections with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to create opportunities for students' social engagement.
    • Organize community events and projects that promote social responsibility and civic engagement.
  • Crisis Intervention and Support:
    • Be a point of contact for students in times of crisis, providing immediate support and connecting them with appropriate resources.
    • Collaborate with counseling services to address social and emotional challenges.
  • Data Tracking and Analysis:
    • Monitor and analyze social development indicators to assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives.
    • Use data-driven insights to continually refine and improve social development strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in social development, counseling, or a similar role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Passion for empowering young individuals and fostering a supportive community.
