Shop Manager, 2nd Shift

Our headquarters located in Evansville; Indiana as an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Shop Manager. The purpose of this position is to oversee operations with overall responsibilities for shop safety, quality, production, continuous improvement and other production related activities.

Job Responsibilities of 2nd Shift Shop Manager:

• Direct plant operations ensuring safety, quality and productivity metrics and standards are achieved.

• Collaborate with Sales, Production Control and Manufacturing to ensure on time delivery goals are achieved.

• Work with Corporate and branch level ISO and Reliability Teams to ensure we deliver unmatched reliability and customer support.

• Provide support and guidance to each night shift departmental lead.

• Identify trends and assess opportunities to improve processes and procedures using H3 Lean Guiding Principles and methodologies.

• Assist branch Operations Manager with creating CAPX budget and approval process.

• Oversee and manage daily operating expenditures.

• Oversee night shift responsibility for facility, security and maintenance.

• Reasonable availability via cell phone after hours to assist with customer or facility situations as they arise. Company will pay at Tier 1 reimbursement level.

• Schedule and report shift overtime needs based on workload, Operations/Production Control input and customer demand.

• Work with Human Resources and Operations Management to ensure proper staffing levels.

• Review, resolve and address personnel issues using HR guided disciplinary action when required.
• Provide direction, leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives.

• Provide operational/technical expertise as necessary to achieve solutions to problems in various shop departments.

• Administer mid-year and year-end evaluations for direct reports. Submit to Operations Management for pre-approval.

• Responsible for preliminary approval of all wage increases according to company guidelines.

• Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness to facilitate lean objectives and safety goals.

• Assist Safety Director and Operations Management with accident investigations.

• Assist Safety Director and Operations Management with development and implementation of new safety procedures and policies.

• Review FTTQ rework and test failures upon notification with department leader, leadmen and or test tech. Take necessary actions and enter ISO CPAR when applicable.

• Work with IT department on updating existing reports and the need for new reports.

• Provide shift performance feedback to President/CEO, Executive VP, DOO and Branch Operations Manager, as necessary.

• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks.

• Performs other duties as assigned within the scope and responsibility required of the job.

Job Requirements of Shop Manager:

• High school diploma or GED required

• Bachelors or Associates a plus but not required.

• Three years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

• Experience working with or around lifting, rigging, industrial or heavy equipment is preferred.

• Ability to while work independently in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to work overtime if needed.
