Sheet Metal Apprentice (Special Projects)

Nature of Work

Assistssheet metal worker in the fabrication, assembly, installation and repair ofHVAC equipment, products, and ductwork. Involves installing a variety of equipmentincluding but not limited to fan coils, heat pumps, package units, mini splits,exhaust fans, c.r.a.c. units, vav's, reheat coils, furnaces, and condensingunits. Works in team based environment and brings a positive attitude to the job.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Load, transport, unload, and furnish an experience journeyman with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
  • May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials, and work pieces during installation.
  • May read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or products specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabrication, assembling, and installing sheet metal products.
  • Perform a variety of duties which include fabricate, assemble, install and repair sheet metal parts.
  • Learn working characteristics of metallic and non-metallic materials.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment to perform work.
  • Maintain equipment accordingly.
  • Exercise initiative or, as directed, perform additional duties to meet the needs of the organization.

Education                
High schooldiploma or equivalent.

Experience
Entry level apprentice opportunity.

Physical Demands
Mustbe able to: Stand or walk for long periods of time for a regular work day; usearms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects; lift and carrymaterials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds andother climbing devices; carry tools and equipment; work while stooped,kneeling, crouched, and crawling positions; be able to see naturally or withcorrection, to safely perform designated tasks.

WorkEnvironment
Standard project site environment thatmay include machinery, parts and chemicals. The job is performed undertemperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injuryand/or illness. May require protective gear.
